The Consumer Credit Act of 1974 was introduced to protect Consumers from financial mis-selling. However, the legislation was unclear and we now find that many agreements may not have complied with the Act and this could render them unenforceable, even in a court of law.

The Consumer credit Act 2006 made it clear that consumers could now challenge the validity of credit agreements if they were found to be unfair. This applies to any of the following:
